Ken Cowley  October 1946 - April 2022

Ken was a family man, a gifted artisan and in his fifth year as Captain of Crystal Bowls Club, in the prime of his life, until pancreatic  cancer laid him low in 2022, aged 75.

He joined the Club in 2015 and  soon became a regular player in both roll-ups and inter club matches.   He won the Men's Singles in 2017 and 2018 and the Nominated Pairs in 2018 and 2019.  In 2018 he became  a qualified coach and was always available to those who wanted help or advice.   Off the green he applied his considerable practical skills to improving and maintaining the club facilities.

He became Club Captain  2016 and, with his unassuming personality, charm and wit was a hit with both visiting clubs and the Crystal membership.   In 2019 he put his considerable skill as a artisan, working in leaded stained glass, to produce and present a logo to all the clubs Crystal visited that year.   The clubs value his gift and those who knew him will have fond memories of him  every time they see them.

Ken was in favour of the merger between Crystal and Black Country Bowls clubs and would have been nominated as captain for the new club had he been able to take up the position.   His final gift  was to design and make a leaded stained glass plaque for the club house that he only finished a few days before his untimely death.

He will be sadly missed by all  that knew  him.
